Exhibition statement

Philosophical Abstractions used early generative image systems to investigate logic, fallacies, rules, reason, and other concepts that exist primarily through thought rather than direct observation.

The project asked VQGAN and CLIP-guided systems to interpret abstract philosophical language. The resulting images were records of a machine attempting to translate conceptual structures into visual form.

Many works began with photographs from Davila's personal life and were transformed through image-to-image processes, preserving private layers of memory beneath public philosophical titles.
